My students were not suprised by the article -- they have intimate knowlege about the plight of asylum seekers in the United States. You see, they are working on asylum cases of detainees housed in York County Prison. They are students at Franklin & Marshall College in my Gov430: Human Rights-Human Wrongs class.
The struggle for human rights continues worldwide on a daily basis. Whether it's a struggle to prevent starvation in Africa, assert one's civil rights in the United States, or avoid torture in Latin America or Asia because of one's political opinion, these are all issues for Hate, Hope and Human Rights
